Case 1.
I just arrived in Korea with my dog. What will be my dog ' s first check-up? |
| |
Each country performs a different vaccination program for dogs, based on geographic conditions, the dog's lifestyle, and its exposure to diseases. Unlike western countries, canine distemper and canine parvoviral enteritis are common and life-threatening diseases in Korea.
Therefore, it is essential that your dog takes an antibody level test for distemper and parvo virus as soon as you arrive in Korea in order to avoid the risk of your dog contracting these contagious diseases. |
|
Case 2.
I just got a new puppy who has been vaccinated several times. Does my dog need more vaccinations? |
| |
If your puppy has previously had vaccinations, it may have established a level of immunity. If we know your dog¡¯s exact antibody level, we won¡¯t need to perform unnecessary vaccinations. Thus, we strongly recommend taking the antibody level test to design a proper vaccination program. |
|
Case 3.
I just got a new puppy who has not been vaccinated at all. When do I start the immunization process? |
| |
While puppies are being nursed by their mother, they are obtaining maternal antibodies which protect them during the weakest period. This maternal antibody level decreases as puppies get older, and it reaches zero when puppies are around six weeks old. (This period varies according to the individual.)
As long as the maternal antibodies exist, puppies can not obtain their own antibodies through vaccinations because of interference between the maternal antibodies and the applied attenuated (or killed) virus.
If your puppy has a significant level of maternal antibodies (determined by the antibody level test), we should wait until they reach zero. If they have already reached zero, we should start the vaccination process |

Unfortunately, there are no commercial products available to check the antibody levels of cats. Therefore, you should keep your cat ' s vaccination records. Cats need not only well-scheduled vaccinations when they are kittens but require regular booster shots as well.
